TAVARUA, Fiji (Saturday, May 31, 2008) – A week into the Globe Pro Fiji waiting period, many of the ASP Top 45 have packed their bags and headed home after back-to-back events in the South Pacific.
There are seven Australians, six Americans, two Hawaiians and a Brazilian who aren’t going anywhere just yet.
The Globe Pro Fiji will not run today, but contest director Steve Robertson may send the remaining 16 contenders out tomorrow or Monday.
“It looks like good swell coming across Sunday afternoon and into Monday and Tuesday and our aim is simply to maximize the best of this swell,” Robertson said. “That potentially means low-tide Cloudbreak across two days. Maybe Round 4 on Monday and quarters through to the final on Tuesday – a real quality finish in good surf.”
Another call on competition status will be made tomorrow at 7am.
