Although he's been pro for several years, he's spent more time traveling and going on surf trips than competing; for this he's acquired the name "Where's Wardo?" In Ward's mind however, a World Tour win isn't a question of if it will happen as much as when it will happen. Although he's been labeled as a freesurfer in some people's minds, he's ready to show his skeptics the motivation and determination it takes to be among the Top 45 competitive surfers in the world.

His surfing is spontaneous, progressive and in your face, and no one knows his mental and physical ability better than he does. Ward has served up humble pie to the world's best, and if he can stay in form, he can prove to be a real threat to the title.
